Favourite Wellness Resources

This is my curated list of handpicked products that my family uses.

Please be assured that even though some of the products on My Favourite Resources page may contain affiliate links, they are all from companies I personally use, recommend and trust. There is no additional cost to you, and in fact, sometimes when you use my special code (if we have been able to negotiate one), you will save money. Please trust that I have experience with all of these companies, and recommend them because they help me maintain a healthy lifestyle and stand up to the claims they make; not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to buy something.

Intuitive Whispers

These products are for the mamas (and there is even something for the teenagers of the house too).

Finding a deodorant that is free from toxic ingredients such as aluminium, alcohol, parabens and other synthetics AND actually works is tricky. Trust me, I have tried a lot and found out the pongy way! And I can name the few brands I know and recommend on one hand.

I just love Intuitive Whispers, not only because of the ethics, high standards and passion behind the brand but the ingredients have been carefully selected to support me whilst at the same time it has an elegance that indulges my femininity and all things beauty at the same time. I know, that’s a lot to live up to!

Intuitive Whispers are Australian Made, Australian owned and have a range of deodorants and artisan perfumes that are not only beautiful but good for you too.

Intuitive Whispers Breast Care deodorant is a finalist in the Australian Non-Toxic Awards for 2020!

Here is an interview with Jane, my colleagues and myself over at Healthier Homes & Living for some insight into Jane’s heart centred brand.

SYB

EMF Protection Products

Founder of SYB and son of EMF expert Martin Blank, R Blank sums up the issues with EMF so succinctly:

  1. There are literally thousands of high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific studies linking EMF exposure with many negative health effects— cancer, infertility, melatonin suppression, blood brain barrier leakage, and many more.
  2. The technology that emits EMF radiation continues to grow at an exponential rate, meaning that human exposures to EMF continue — and will continue — to grow exponentially into the future. The trend line of exponential growth of human-made EMF is not going to stop.
  3. EMF-emitting technology forms the entire basis for modern society.

Whilst we cannot just get rid of all EMF, to some degree it is here to stay but there are safer ways to use this technology. It is that premise that R develops and thoroughly tests every single product, including for emerging technologies such as 5G.

As you can see from the photo I just love and the baby products (blanket and beanie). But just a hint, it is not just our babe that uses the blanket, it is so versatile and I even used it whilst pregnant.

Our family also use SYB laptop pads, phone pouch and headsets.

Block Blue Light

Having littles that get up through the night, it has been imperative that we have lights and lamps that we can turn on so we can see where we are going and assist without waking everyone up.

Block Blue Light globes is what we use in our house.

We use both colours, the amber and the red for different applications.

Firstly we have the Red Plug In Night Light for Sleep that plugs directly into the power outlet for a soft red glow, more than enough for us to see during the night without interrupting the littles sleep. Secondly we have the Sweet Dreams Sleep Light, which is an amber globe we have fitted to the lamps. This is the only light we use after the sun has gone down as it has no blue light.

The Australian company Block Blue Light also have Blue Blocking Glasses.

WM “serve the local community with fresh, organic, pesticide and allergy-free products that are good for the environment and ultimately good for you too”.

WM stock everything we need to get through our week and to be honest this is where we prefer to do our weekly shopping.

We especially love:

  • the amazing range of pantry items, including a plethora of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and more (we especially love their range of dairy-free/vegan yoghurts and cheeses)
  • the fruit and vegetables always looks fresh and the few items that are not organic are always clearly labelled
  • they have a great selection of organic, biodynamic and free-range, chemical-free meats and poultry
  • a good range of bulk foods which includes grains, nuts, dried fruits, seeds (we especially love that they try to source direct from the farmer)
  • they have a dedicated area and staff member always ready to assist with all things beauty- skin care and make up
  • the staff are always so friendly and welcoming
  • they are open everyday

Wholefood Merchants really do have everything. We just love them.

They have a few locations (Ferntree Gully, Greensborough, Southern Cross) in Melbourne and our experience is at the Ferntree Gully location.

SHP

There is just something so cute about a bub in a Modern Cloth Nappy and I am an absolute raving fan of these gorgeous nappies and Michelle and her little business. You see, SHP are a true family business right here in Queensland, Australia that specialises in natural, nights, timeless designs (I think) and bubs with allergies including newborns. SHP live and breathe all things sustainable and natural, where possible, as well as support local businesses in the process.

Michelle at SHP offers the sweetest fabric designs alongside natural undyed fabric and undyed certified organic wool. She doesn’t use any polyurethane laminate (PUL) plastic in any of her designs either, which as a Building Biologist I love.

If you are unsure or curious, drop Michelle a line, she was super patient and helpful when I was putting my order through.

Blessed Earth

Blessed Earth are an Australian owned business that was established in 2004.

They only carry certified organic cotton and manufacture clothing, bedlinen, mattresses, bedding and even certified organic carpets. Our home adorns many of their products.

Blessed Earth’s manufacturers in India and Turkey are certified by the Global Organic Textiles Standard. They regularly visit their overseas suppliers and have obtained a certificate that their imported goods are not fumigated on entry to Australia.

They believe in consumers asking questions and not being misled by unethical marketing practices. And I love this about them.

If my family ever travel to Maleny, Queensland, we will definitely be visiting their café where I’ve heard much of the food is grown on the property!

Ra Optics

The Ra Optics brand is named after Ra the Egyptian God of the sun.

You see artificial light is heavily loaded with blue and green light wavelengths, which without the rest of the visible light wavelengths to balance it out, depletes our melatonin levels. Without adequate melatonin levels our sleep quality may be impacted and ultimately affect our overall health as a result.

Being a mama of a little who has struggled to maintain adequate melatonin levels, we use Ra Optic lenses to assist us in maintaining adequate melatonin levels naturally.
